Hereβs the Thing!
Let's get straight to the point!
I lived in Brighton, UK for many years, my local pub was The Ranelagh in Kemp Town. One of the ownerβs friends was the late great Gary Moore, whom more than once, when he was in town, came to the pub and played live (quite often unadvertised and only anounced to Ranelagh Regulars). Which is how myself and several of our friends found ourselves hanginβ out with, listening to, and having late night lock-in drinks with Gary Moore.
BTW the 1959 Gibson Les Paul Gary is playing in this video above is probably the famous guitar that once belonged to Peter Green, a founding memebr of the original Fleetwood Mac. Les Pauls from that year, β59β, are probably worth more than that pub!

Finally, I donβt know why, when pople are talking about the topic of βwho are the greatest guitarists ever?β Gary Mooreβs name never comes up β heβs a blues guitar genius!
Please note: I have another infotainment channel on Substack, called Unleashed & Unlimited, where I post podcasts, articles and content unrelated to music.ππ₯π
I was always fascinated how Gary Moore became known for being a blues guitarist. My friends were big fans of Moore early on with Victims of the Future and Run for Cover, etc, when he was decidedly NOT a blues guitarist. Then one day he's BB King.
