Tangent, but the note about the auction reminded me of _Clapton's Guitar_, ( https://www.simonandschuster.com/books/Claptons-Guitar/Allen-St-John/9780743266369 ) a book about Wayne Henderson making a guitar for Eric Clapton, and a copy to auction for charity which you might enjoy.

Wow! Well, I'm gonna check this book out for sure. And this video is something else. I don't know enough about this style of picking', however it immediately reminds me of banjo playing, to me he makes the guitar sound very similar to a banjo.

About the '59 Les Paul Standards β€” Gibson only shipped 643 Les Pauls in 1959, but there are far more alleged ’59 Les Pauls in circulation. Add to this that Gibson's shipping ledgers from that year were lost (I'm not sure if they have now been recovered). So there is no real way to be sure of a 59's provenance. Yet they regularly fetch over $500,000 at auction!
