One of a kind as a performer and person. Love the videos with Paul and Jools, which I've never seen.

She was remarkable. I want to say 2006 or the latter part of that year (both those videos are from then), was her finest hour, but who am I to say that β€” all her brief career was remarkable. So often great artists are driven and tormented by their demons. I think that's why those like Amy touch us all so profoundly β€” she was vulnerable, like we all are, and she was brave enough not to fake hiding it. It's hard to say this, sounds almost wrong, but of all the 27 Club, I think she is the greatest.

Agree completely, she was remarkable as both a performer and songwriter. Her Back to Black album is extraordinary, such an incredible gift to us. My favorite is "Tears Dry on Their Own" -- the music, the lyrics, the video with its parade of quirky characters around her, her courageous vulnerability -- a breakup lament for the ages.

I'm going to use the grapevine vid in my next post (about that song) and will link to your post. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. It inspired me!

BTW there’s a better quality version of the same performance of grapevine on YouTube, it’s just a slightly different edit, showing some of the audience. I preferred the edit of the lower quality version, has some great but brief shots of Amy and Paul.
